Physiotherapy is a healthcare discipline focused on enhancing and restoring human movement and physical function. Physiotherapists treat a wide range of conditions affecting the musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiovascular systems. Whether you're recovering from an injury, dealing with persistent aches and pains, or working toward a fitness or movement goal, a physiotherapist can help by assessing your current condition and setting personalized goals to get you back to the activities you enjoy.

As primary healthcare providers, physiotherapists can be accessed directly—no doctor’s referral is needed. They offer a comprehensive overview of how your body is moving and identify what steps are necessary to improve function, reduce discomfort, and bridge the gap between where you are now and where you want to be in terms of movement and performance.

Bentzen Takyi graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts specializing in Kinesiology and went on to receive a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Queen’s University. He has completed courses in soft tissue release, pre-rehabilitation and currently is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). He plans to work towards his levels in manual therapy through the Orthopaedic Division. He has a comprehensive understanding of managing and treating acute and chronic conditions such as neck and low back pain and peripheral joint injuries (shoulder, knee, ankle, to name a few). He is also knowledgeable in preoperative and postoperative treatment and management. Bentzen is dedicated to promoting a healthy lifestyle and physical activity. He uses a combination of primarily active- based therapy, education, and manual therapy to help patients get back to doing what they enjoy, but more importantly, build the resilience to avoid future injury.

Prior to becoming a physiotherapist, Bentzen worked as a fitness consultant for the City of Vaughan and worked with training elite basketball athletes. Having a strong interest in basketball, he has worked with several teams, camps, and showcases as a therapist on-site. He also plays in an ultimate frisbee league and has one full marathon completed under his belt.

He is currently a member of Sport Physiotherapy Canada, the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA), Ontario Physiotherapy Association and the Orthopaedic Division.
